I have written from ripples of rivers
furrowed bark of the oak
chiseled words from sandstone
gifted to me from the gleam
of Eagle’s wings
when the stars speak, I take notes
translating to my liking
the drab of dead leaves still
finds a way to impress
time and loss
they have punctured holes
in my soul
but I still patch them
with poetry
It’s OPEN LINK NIGHT at dVerse Poets Pub, your opportunity to share ONE poem for our reading pleasure and the read the work of fellow poets. Doors open at 3 p.m. EST. Hope you can join us!
I love this… especially that ending, how to patch leaves with poetry… you just did
I just love this Mish, especially the idea of mending the holes in our soul with poetry: I think we all try to do this to a greater or lesser extent!
What stunning lines….starting from the very first, and possibly best one, and I have been trying to imagine how one could possibly write a poem about a forest that is truly worthwhile..well, I just got my answer..
This is incredibly deep and poignant, Mish! I especially love the image “when the stars speak, I take notes translating to my liking/the drab of dead leaves still finds a way to impress.” 💝💝
a lovely poem Mish – full of tender thoughts
It is always time to celebrate poets, and you did a fine job of it. I think d’Verse has some of the finest poets in the world within it’s ranks. Unless the Pub collapses leaderless, I have no plans go going somewhere else.
“when the stars speak, I take notes
translating to my liking”
Gorgeous lines
Happy Thursday
Much💛love
This meta-poem absolutely seals what poetry does.

A gorgeous method to heal the punctures, Mish. I love all the earthy tools you use to piece together the poem 🙂
