I fell in love with silence
under the hush of snowfall
and you
under the blaze of desert skies
traded green for earth-tones
turquoise lakes for turquoise stones
we’ve sailed in waters, unruffled
and tumbled in the dust bowl
still
you are my oasis
For the Quadrille prompt at dVerse Poets Pub, I have chosen the word “blaze” to warm up your 44 word poems. Doors open at 3 p.m. EST and the prompt is open all week. You are welcome to join in!
I love the imagery of sea and dessert being so much the same… lovely ending
love waits in the wings, and sometimes it settles in. like how you combined nature’s terrain with love’s terrain
I love the contrast between the ‘hush of snowfall’ and the ‘blaze of desert skies’, and the vivid colours, Mish.
Quadrilliffic!
the contrasts here are great
The last lines says it all for me. I think I shall share that line with my husband of 54 years….beautiful line.
The contrasting images make the poem. And, oh, those final two lines!
I like it for all the reasons stated above. The line, “turquoise lakes for turquoise stones” is a bit imaginative, I can’t imagine either as being “turquoise”. Rocks do look prettier under the water, I ‘rustled’ a rock from a lake in xxxx thinking it might be a huge Turquoise gemstone but I got it home it wasn’t pretty at all. Polishing would bring out what I saw in the lake.
..
Oh yes, thank you for this prompt word, I was in the ground on this one. I learned writing it.
..
Thanks for joining in, Jim. 🙂
If you saw Lake Huron in my locale, you would definitely see turquoise. The turquoise rocks are just that…..turquoise, plentiful where my husband lived in New Mexico.
Nice comparisons/ contrasts.
I too like the contrasts in this piece. Nicely done.
A beautiful love story!
Very nicely done, Mish.
This speaks to me of the gift of sharing time with someone you love. This love leads to adventures and considerations you would never experience without this person. Wonderful.
wow!!! Whats not to luv in this poem. Bravo.
Thanks for dropping by my blog
much♡love
Beautiful, Mish. Just love it.
Such gorgeous colors – and comfort – here, Mish. And thanks for the inspiration.
The loveliest “quadrille love song” ever!!!! Thank you for a blazing fine challenge.
Hi Mish, I love the idea of the desert and the ocean. Parts of my country are just like that.
A tender love poem, Mish. Beautiful.
Oh my goodness… this is so sweet!!
How lovely!!

What a beautiful last line that ties the whole poem together! Well written, Mish 🙂
Wonderful contrast here, Mish. Beautiful poem!
This is lovely – both the sentiment and the way you have expressed it.
