November 016

Don’t ever lose what you came here for

Dreams lost between fingers

Float aimlessly so

Haunting you, taunting you

Forging the flow

Of what you cannot

And what you will sow

Like they know

Hah! Like they know

~

Don’t ever lose what you came here for

Thoughts and faint hearts

Will easily dissolve

Diluting, polluting

Your streams of resolve

Diverting your course

To bowers and bays

That lead you astray

Hah! Sail away

Do I Dare Accept the Super Sweet Blogger Award?

Posted on

super-sweet-blogging-award21w6451

It was  SO SWEEEEET of Melanie at http://wordifull.com/ to honor me with this award. I will gladly accept based on the fact that she said I was sweet in a “non saccharine kind of way”. Wheeeew! Thanks Melanie!! Putting me on a pedestal of pleasantness would be hard to live up to. The truth is I’m not always that sweet! I think it is just one part of my “mishunderstood” personality.

Be sure to pay a visit to Melanie’s blog. It is a very diverse collection of writing styles and formats. There is something for everyone.

What makes me not so sweet? Let’s see…

I curse a lot (or swear, as we say in Canada).

I snore. That’s not so sweet.

Sometimes, it’s just all about ME, ME, ME. I want it MY way. I need it MY way.  I can be difficult.

What makes me sweet? Hmm….

Animals love me. I am an animal magnet.

Children, especially babies are memorized by me. I can’t make eye contact with one in a grocery store…they want to come home with me.

I do find happiness in helping others.

I always return my shopping cart to its proper location.

So do I dare accept this candy coated trophy of pure goodness?

Oh what the heck!

Bring on the little sugar plum fairies and bestow upon me this sugary crown!

I AM SUPER SWEET…uh….SOMETIMES!!!

With all sappiness aside, I will get on to business.

The 5 Super Sweet questions.

1.       Cookies or cake?

CAKE!!

2.       Chocolate or vanilla?

Don’t make me choose.

3.       Favourite sweet treat?

Pumpkin pie with maple syrup. Yes, really… but only with REAL maple syrup.

4.       When do you crave sweet things the most?

After a meal, when I’m full. Go figure!! (literally…there goes the figure)

5.       Sweet nickname?

Ok, I can’t lie. Someone at work calls me “Cupcake”.  I have no idea what I have done to deserve it and I want to wallop her every time she says it. Hah! See! I told you I’m not so sweet.

It was very difficult to choose a baker’s dozen of 13 from the many super sweet bloggers I follow regularly. With that in mind, I decided to simply do a search for blogs under topics such as sweet and kindness.  I managed to narrow it down to these sweet treats. Grab yourself a coffee and indulge!

u.s.a. (unidentified sleeping animal)

Posted on

My husband and I decided to take  advantage of a cool but sunny spring day and take a hike at a nearby conservation area. A man passed by and told us there was “some kind of animal” sleeping up in a tree  not too far ahead.

Sure enough, there it was……

….all curled up in the crook of a tree about 30 feet above us.

After taking a few pictures from the trail I quickly decided to get closer.

I always want to get closer!

I was afraid the sound of crunching leaves under my feet would wake him from his nap, but he did not move a muscle as I edged closer to the tree.

He (or she) was the size of a baby bear, but we were fairly confident that there were no bears in this neck of the woods!

He was completely undisturbed by our conversation and at one point, we wondered if he was actually alive.

His creepy little “hands” reminded me of a character in a fantasy movie.

At the same time, I was captivated by him.

He looked so snuggly, covering he eyes from the daylight as he slept.

We finally left him to his slumber. He’d never know that we were ever there.

After some photo editing and debate, we decided he was an EXTREMELY large……..

racoon.

This was a moment in nature I will not forget.
