blankets of blues
summer in sapphire and teal
I breathe between hues
seven ride the waves
still nuzzled in mother’s wing
paddling seasons past
gliding on thermals
freedom to speak or squawk while
clouds only whisper

Beautiful!
Thanks š
Great series of haiku. I think the gull is my favourite – the contrast with the clouds is nicely done.
Thank you, Sarah. š
Very serene!
It is a special place for sure…
Thanks Jay.
These are absolutely stunning, Mish! š I especially love the one with the gulls. Thank you so much for hosting us š
Thanks, Sanaa. :
My pleasure!
A lovely tercet of haiku; my favorite is the third one as well. Your photos are beautiful. Did you select them first, and write to the images, or vica-versa?
Thank you, Glenn. I selected the photos first for this one. My hubby has quite an assortment. He came from the Southwest of the U.S., moved here to the Great Lakes area of Canada. Coming from the desert, he is a bit obsessed with our lakes, streams, rivers….all things water!
Reblogged this on Frank J. Tassone and commented:
#Haiku Happenings #7: Mish’s latest haiku #sequence for #dVersePoets #OpenLinkNight!
Thanks so much for the re-blog, Frank. š
⤠⤠⤠Trifecta.
Glad you enjoyed them, Lisa. Thanks. š
You are very welcome, my pleasure.
Sharp intake of breath! A lovely series, Mish. I love the alliteration/consonance in āblankets of bluesā and the blues/hues rhyme, as if you are saying āoohā at the colours. I also like that you donāt name the birds in the second and third senryu, but we can work out what they are without the images..
Thanks for the very thoughtful comments, Kim. Now I can hear the “oooh”.
Great stuff as ever, Mish – my two favourite lines of all here are:
“I breathe between hues…” AND “clouds only whisper…” Both so delicate and keenly felt – so powerful too…
Thank you, Scott. š
Beautiful nature story told in haiku format. I love it!
Thanks Beverly! š
the serenity soars on this triple trifecta, well composed and the photos compliment the peace it emits!
Thank you, kate. I have to credit to my hubby for the photos. He made it easy for me. š
it’s nice when you can work as a team š
A lovely trifecta. I am partial to the 3rd one. Gliding on the thermals that is the way to fly!
Thanks Truedessa…..it sure would be peaceful.
Your haiku capture a lovely scene.
Thanks, Ken. š
Very nice images. What a peaceful and serene place. Love the haiku!
Thanks, Dwight. The lake always makes me feel better.
I can understand that!
Simplicity reigns supreme or serene. These are a beautiful mix of words with images.
Thank you. Nature always inspires. š
We are all looking to the healing power of water these days. (K)
I agree! The other day I stood in the lake, combined with the sun, it was very healing.
Wonderful haikus!
Thank you, Linda!
A beautiful set of haiku–delicate, dreamy, and a balm to the senses.
Aww, what a sweet comment. Thanks, Merril! š
You’re very welcome, Mish!

The freedom of riding the waves in bright sunshine, sea breeze nonchalantly brushing the cheeks under the watchful eyes of Mom, wouldn’t that be nice?
Hank
Yes, it would be nice, hank! Thanks for the lovely comment.
I loved your haiku and the photos. They are really uplifting.
So glad you enjoyed them, Suzanne. š
