Daydreams are only murmurs
Moments wasted
Wishes tossed and scattered
Do they ever really matter?
In the gloaming, my thoughts echo
Meticulous musing
Repetitive rants
This, my evening dance
Nightfall stars my skies in words
I pluck them one by one, as they become
My constellations, revelations
These are my epiphanies

I am you host!
Absolutely stunning! I adore the final stanza. Interesting, Mish. We’ve both posted about the close of day this time π Thanks for hosting!
Thank you, Lil. Perhaps you are a night owl too? Oh wait…..you write with coffee in hand!
Iβm an early morning galπ
You’ve captured the whimsical nature of daydreaming, and in response to your question: Do they ever matter? I’d say: yes, as evidenced by your beautifully penned poem.
See you at the pub!
Thanks so much, V.J. π
Very welcome
Your last stanza is killer; could stand alone as a poem. Night skies have brought terrors & insights for me. Living in the suburbs, the city lights mask the magic of the stars.
I am always thankful for your comments, Glenn. Yes, I was thinking about that last stanza on it’s own, having more poetic vibe. I hope you get a chance soon to see more lovely night skies.
Pretty delicious Mish, you conjure a lot here…
Thank you, Scott.
I like the sound and sense of these lines “Wishes tossed and scattered
Do they ever really matter?” As well as the phrase “I pluck them one by one, as they become”.
Thank you very much, Frank.
I like all of this, but especially your closing metaphor.
Thank you! π
Nightfall stars my skies in words.
I do like that line!
Thank you, Jane. π
π
Beautiful!
Thanks, Teresa!
I would love to be able to meet the dance like that… dancing with the stars… somehow it never really happens except in poetry.
Well, we can always dance underneath them. Thanks, Bjorn.
I truly love your last stanza – beautiful on its own. Nightfall stars my skies in words…I love this line so much. Out here in the country, the sky stretches endlessly sewn with stars
Thank you, Toni. I would love to see those skies regularly. How beautiful it must be.
sometimes it is cloudy and of course you can’t see anything. But the nights that are clear and without light pollution – oh my goodness. I am doing a lot of star gazing lately. I love the meteor showers.
This is very meditative. It’s almost like a close of day chant or prayer.
Wow, Sarah. I hadn’t thought of it like that. Thank you for the lovely comment. π
I love this one, Mish. I vote for daydreams that DO matter. Sort of a “what you see is what you get” mentality! Loved that last stanza, since most of my poetry comes from midnight epiphanies.
Thanks Bev! Cheers to us night owls!
Dreamy write, filled with nightfall stars. Thanks Mish for hosting OLN.
Thank you, Grace. Sorry I couldn’t really be present that night…an unexpected bump in life but I was happy to write the OLN prompt and the trail was amazing, as usual.
Brilliant poem, love the last lines…indeed dreams are the epiphanies.
Thank you so much, Dorianna. π
I like what you did with words as day dreams and stars in the night sky forming your own constellation. Do you ever catch a falling star!!??
Thanks Frank. I think I have caught falling stars of inspiration. π
??
This is the line that resonated with me most. Daydreams are only murmurs.
Thanks for sharing.
I’m glad it resonated, Ali. Thanks for stopping in to read.
“This, my evening dance”…I think all poets can relate to this. The last stanza is this poem’s crown, glittering with starry gems. Most beautiful.
A beautiful comment, thank you, Sumana. π
Stars Poetica. I love the βpluck them one by one.β Words and stars βοΈ. Brilliant. And the rhyming so soft and soothing.
Thank you, Lona for that lovely comment.
This sounds like your muse arriving for a discussion, dusting you with glitter.βΊ
Haha…I like that visual! Thanks, Kathy. π
there’s a nice dreaminess to this… a nice reflective dance with some food for thoughts – you started me thinking about daydreams you know
Thank you, Claudia. I hope those thoughts nurture a daydreamy poem. Thank you for being a part of OLN. It was so nice to have you there.
This is so lovely, and I agree with others about that stunning last stanza!
Thank you, Merril. π
Beautiful images. I like the idea of plucking words from the sky. (K)
Thank you! π

Nightfall stars my skies in words

My constellations, revelations
Nightfall can inspire many thoughts as they might present congenial moments of peace. Yes, there can be stunning revelations coming one’s way. Rightly so Mish!
Hank
Thanks so much, Hank. It is that peace and quiet of the night that inspires.
Beautiful use of alliteration, internal rhyme and witty diction to paint a cinematic portrait of daydreaming!
I love the last stanza! Beautiful.
Love the last stanza. Fabulous images. π
Beautiful! I’ve just found your blog, loved what I’ve read so far. Looking forward to reading more π
