Not Until Nightfall

Posted on

Daydreams are only murmurs

Moments wasted

Wishes tossed and scattered

Do they ever really matter?

In the gloaming, my thoughts echo

Meticulous musing

Repetitive rants

This, my evening dance

Nightfall stars my skies in words

I pluck them one by one, as they become

My constellations, revelations

These are my epiphanies

  2. You’ve captured the whimsical nature of daydreaming, and in response to your question: Do they ever matter? I’d say: yes, as evidenced by your beautifully penned poem.

  3. Your last stanza is killer; could stand alone as a poem. Night skies have brought terrors & insights for me. Living in the suburbs, the city lights mask the magic of the stars.

    • I am always thankful for your comments, Glenn. Yes, I was thinking about that last stanza on it’s own, having more poetic vibe. I hope you get a chance soon to see more lovely night skies.

  8. I would love to be able to meet the dance like that… dancing with the stars… somehow it never really happens except in poetry.

I love this one, Mish. I vote for daydreams that DO matter. Sort of a “what you see is what you get” mentality! Loved that last stanza, since most of my poetry comes from midnight epiphanies.
