In awe I stand
Feet steadied upon
Emerald cliffs
Inhaling breath of sky
Heart-quickened, earth-smitten
Tickle of sea mist on my tongue
I surrender thoughts to the waves
Trundle with ocean’s tide
Erasing all but this moment
Time still…. (passes)
Each second a blessing
Written for De’s Quadrille prompt , “Quick! Write Something!”
Nice line: “I surrender thoughts to the waves”
“Earth-smitten” and “I surrender thoughts to the waves” are wonderful! ❤
“Heart-quickened, earth-smitten
Tickle of sea mist on my tongue”
Goodness, that’s breathtaking!
I specially love: Tickle of sea mist on my tongue
Such a blessing to inhale it all!!!!
Your poem shows the inherent contrast of the ocean and sands, the cyclical turn of waves and shifts of sand mark the passing of time. But the waves smooth out into a flat horizon and the sands rearrange themselves into recurring constancy, showing that stillness is the true interstium there. You had me bobbing in the salts, so beautiful, well done.
What strikes me about this is the interplay of place/nature and emotion. These touch us so significantly.
