Shadows are born
From breath of light
Betwixt the twigs
They play and meddle
Draping black veils
Over earth’s stage
This is where
Leaves spot dance
One last time
My heart dips
And sways
Between sweet
Sounds of sunbeams
And the monotones
Of solitude
Today at dVerse, De is our host serving up some quadrilles or Q44’s as we like to call them. She has chosen the word “shadow” that must be included within the poem. Join the fun!
What a simply divine, dark way of seeing shadows:
“Draping black veils
Over earth’s stage”
I am floored by this. Just wonderful.
I love the way you use sound to describe vision. Very impressive.
Monotones of solitude – wow to the ending Mish ~ Love the sounds of betwixt the twigs ~
I really like this, of dance and music, light and shadow.
Lovely. Like how you mix up the senses in this–synesthesia is one of my favorite poetic devices.
So beautiful! Thank you for sharing.
I like the take on the prompt in this piece. Well done.
Yes the sound of sunbeams… Love synesthesia, and the effect they have. Isn’t it marvellous how the flicker of light work on us.
there is something soothing and calming with your beautifully weaved words, Mish. ❤ ❤ ❤

This is beautiful! Especially love “the monotones of solitude.”
I am soooo late to the reading. Appointments galore — teaching a workshop this afternoon — and trying to prepare for our 6 week trip abroad that begins Oct 25. Crazy times!!!! But this — this — served to relax me — like stepping into serenity!
Shadows as black veils…wonderful image, Mish. Love your poem!
Beautiful. I like the wistful quality of your piece.
Lovely in so many ways!
