She lives in the grey
Mixing chalky drab clouds
With the ebony of night
Flaunting her travels
Of glorious spectrum
Planting pastels
In primary gardens
Writing her creed
In black and white
Fooling only herself

Inspired by Grace’s poetic prompt of “black and white”. You can be inspired too at dVerse Poet’s Pub.
behind the drab clouds… I grew up in that weather 🙂
Coloring in black and white.. emptying palette of emotions.. expanding to primary..
gaining pastel feelings.. finally bliss.. start again.. black and white.. color
wheels of life.. going ’round and ’round hues.. shades.. of difference..
shadowing.. delighting.. human realities.. colorful or not..:)
Somehow we can live in the nature and only have twilight behind those clouds, real or imagined. I would like to give her some flowers of color.
This is beautiful! Bravo!
Thank you! 🙂
Wow-wow-wow, this is stunning!
Thank you so much…glad you liked it. 🙂
Interesting how you use the colors in this one to tell the story. It is pretty amazing how many think they are fooling themselves and even others. Reality has its way soon enough, and we all must face the consequences of our life and actions.
So true…thanks for your comments. 🙂
Indeed, she may not know it, but she is fooling herself ~ She may showing off her spectrum to others but inside she knows the truth ~
Thanks for linking up with D’verse and Happy Thursday ~
Always a pleasure 🙂
It is amazing really how good a person can become at times at fooling themselves. But maybe sometime there is no harm done to plant a different kind of flower in the mind’s garden. Enjoyed reflecting on the meaning of this poem.
Thank you, Mary…I wasn’t sure if my own interpretation would come across which is basically how some of us strive to be open minded and flexible (“grey”), but in reality, still lean towards the “black and white” view of things. Of course…any interpretation is fine. Thanks for reading. 🙂
I like the way you conveyed self-delusion through your use of colors. I think we all paint a version of our lives to ourselves and others but, hopefully, it is not as far from the truth as the one your persona creates.
Maybe I did not mean ‘persona’ but rather ‘character’.
Thanks, Gabriella…and I agree. Sometimes we are not what we proclaim to be.
“Self-delusion” was exactly the tag I was looking for. I must add that one! 🙂
What a great way to express the self-deception of a black and white existence…mixing chalky drab clouds…yeah!
Self deception…another good tag for this…thanks! 🙂
Fooling is such a sad word. We all at some point in our lives have gone through such stage fooling our own self for nothing. Thanks for the poem. I enjoyed your creative play with words.
How one is governed by a world of choices but still succumbs to the compartmentalized and restrictive black and whites. One can’t be fooling oneself most times! Great lines Mish!
Hank
all too soon she will wake hopefully… we can fool ourselves (and others) only for so long…
